Fluid Drainage
Paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrostomy tube placement, cholecystostomy tube placement, abscess drainage, seroma drainage etc.
Abnormal fluid can accumulate in places where it should not be such as around the lungs, in the abdomen and surgical beds. Normal fluid such as urine and bile can become obstructed (blocked) and lead to complications. Minimally invasive drainage procedures help to alleviate these abnormal collections of fluid without the need for surgery. The fluid can be drained using ultrasound, x-ray and other imaging methods with procedures often taking less than 5 minutes.
Used to treat: Abnormal collections of fluid in the body.
