Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE)
Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat an enlarged prostate by blocking the blood supply to the gland, causing it to shrink. During the procedure, a catheter is guided through an artery in the wrist or groin to the prostate, where tiny particles are placed to stop blood flow, which improves urinary symptoms over time. It is an alternative to traditional surgery, often performed with local anesthesia, and allows most patients to go home the same day.
Used to treat: Enlarged prostates/Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
